Note: For Real Options Analysis
Toolkit, Windows and Excel must be English versions
and the Windows regional settings must be English.
International Support for
Crystal Ball
This version of Crystal Ball is supported on non-English
versions of Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Office
in the same language.
If you are using Crystal Ball 7.2.2 on an English operating
system with non-English regional settings, Decisioneering
recommends that you install the Microsoft Multilingual
User Interface (MUI) Pack for your version of Microsoft
Office. If you don't install the Microsoft MUI Pack,
Excel will appear with the regional formatting and
Crystal Ball will appear with English formatting.
For more information about the MUI Pack, visit www.microsoft.com and search for MUI within the Microsoft Web site.
Microsoft Platform Support
Only Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 can be
used
Crystal Ball 7.2.2 is an application built against and tested on Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
(with .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1) and will run by default on .NET Framework 1.1
on a machine containing .NET Framework 1.1 as well as other versions of
the .NET Framework (for example, 1.0 and/or 2.0). See the following Web site for
more information:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/technologyinfo/versioncomparison/default.aspx
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP 1 must be installed on your computer before you can install and run Crystal Ball 7.2.2. Crystal Ball does not run on machines with just .NET Framework 2.0 installed. If you have only Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed, warning and error messages might appear when you try to start Crystal Ball 7.2.2.
You might also have difficulty loading Crystal Ball when you start it with both .NET Framework versions 1.1 and 2.0 installed. If this happens, choose Start > Programs > Crystal Ball 7 > Application Manager. Be sure this setting is checked in the Crystal Ball Application Manager: "Run Excel with Microsoft's .NET Framework v1.1." Then, click OK and restart Crystal Ball.
For more information on installing and using Crystal Ball with Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 with Service Pack 1, see the Microsoft .NET Framework FAQs.
Crystal Ball and Microsoft Windows VistaTM
Crystal Ball 7.2.2 is not officially supported on Windows Vista. Crystal Ball 7.3, targeted for the first quarter of 2007, will be officially supported on Windows Vista.
Crystal Ball and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows
Limited testing on a 64-bit version of Windows XP Professional suggests that Crystal Ball 7 should perform acceptably in 32-bit emulation mode on 64-bit Microsoft operating system platforms. However, Crystal Ball does not fully support the 64-bit features of these systems at this time. When running in 32-bit emulation mode, Crystal Ball has the same 1 - 1.5 GB memory limitions encountered when running on 32-bit Windows operating systems. Other 32-bit limitations also apply.
Note -- Different Default Installation Folder: Because Crystal Ball 7.2.2 is a 32-bit application, its default installation folder on 64-bit machines is C:\Program Files (x86)\Decisioneering\Crystal Ball 7, not C:\Program Files\Decisioneering\Crystal Ball 7 (as mentioned in the Crystal Ball Installation and Licensing Guide).
Crystal Ball and Windows Server 2003
Limited testing on Windows Server 2003 indicates that Crystal Ball 7 should perform acceptably on Windows Server 2003. Further testing is required before we can officially support Crystal Ball on this platform.
Crystal Ball and Microsoft Excel 2007
Because Microsoft Office 2007, including Excel 2007, has very different file structures and scripting support from earlier versions of Microsoft Office, Crystal Ball 7.2.2 and earlier versions of Crystal Ball are not compatible with Microsoft Office 2007.
Crystal Ball 7.3, targeted for the first quarter of 2007, will be officially supported on Microsoft Office 2007.
