The following definitions will help you understand
the terms used in the new licensing scheme for Crystal Ball products.
- Decisioneering Licensing Web Server – The server
that the License Manager accesses to retrieve a License File.
- Host ID – The Host ID is a unique identifier for
the computer hardware on a network or the Internet. If the computer
is not on a network or the Internet, a unique identifier for the
hard drive is used.
- License Authorization Code – This is the alphanumeric
code that is sent to customers when they receive their Crystal
Ball products on CD or by downloading them from Decisioneering's
Web site.
- License File – This is the file that is generated
by the Decisioneering Licensing Web Server. The License File is
put on a customer's computer and enables specified Crystal Ball
products to run.
- License Manager – This tool is launched following
a new installation of Crystal Ball products. It enables users
to access the Decisioneering Licensing Web Server, upload their
Host ID and License Authorization Code, and download and activate
the License File. It can also be launched from the Crystal Ball
program group using the Windows Start menu.
