What language versions
are available now for Crystal Ball?
Crystal Ball is currently available in English,
French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. The Spanish
translation has a Latin American emphasis.
What part of Crystal
Ball is currently translated?
For French, German, and Spanish versions of Crystal
Ball, all Crystal Ball Standard application features are
translated except the Crystal Ball Tools. This includes
the main Crystal Ball Help file and the following
documentation:
- Crystal Ball Getting Started Guide
- Crystal Ball Process Capability Guide
- Crystal Ball Installation and Licensing Guide
- Crystal Ball Quick Reference Card
- Crystal Ball Process Capability Card
- Crystal Ball Distribution Card
- Crystal Ball Startup Guide
The CB Tools, CB Predictor, and OptQuest are not yet
translated for these languages.
All features and documents are translated for the
Japanese version of Crystal Ball Standard and
Professional.
Can I run an English version of Crystal Ball on non-English versions of Windows?
The current English version of Crystal Ball is
supported on non-English versions of Microsoft Windows
with Microsoft Office in the same language.
Can I run Crystal Ball in French, German, or Spanish on an English version of Microsoft Windows?
A localized version of Crystal Ball will only run in that language if
Excel is configured to run in that same language. For example, a
Spanish version of Crystal Ball will appear in Spanish only if
- the Spanish version of Excel is installed, or
- the
English version of Excel is installed along with a properly set Spanish
version of the Microsoft Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack
(described below).
If
only the English version of Excel is available without a MUI Pack, then
the localized version of Crystal Ball appears in English.
For full language compatibility, the Regional and Language Options must be set correctly in Windows Control Panel.
More information about the Microsoft MUI Packs:
If you are using this version of Crystal Ball on an English operating
system with non-English regional settings, we recommend
that you install the Microsoft Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Pack
for your version of Microsoft Office. If you don't install the
Microsoft MUI Pack, Excel will appear with the regional formatting and
Crystal Ball will appear with English formatting. For more information
about the MUI Pack, visit http://www.microsoft.com/ and search for MUI within the Microsoft Web site.
Is the installer
translated?
Yes. If you are installing a French, German, or
Spanish version of Crystal Ball on a computer with a
Microsoft Windows in the same language, the installer
and Crystal Ball License Manager appear in the language
of Windows. If you are installing Crystal Ball on a
version of Windows that is a different language from the
version of Crystal Ball you are installing, the Crystal
Ball installer and License Manager appear in
English.

Ball Installation and Licensing Guide, click here.
I work with French,
German, or Spanish language applications using a
Microsoft MUI pack on an English version of Windows. Can
I review a localized version of Crystal
Ball?
Yes, you can. However, be aware that when you install
an evaluation version of Crystal Ball, your current
version of Crystal Ball is removed. If you install a
localized version of Crystal Ball, it will overwrite an
existing English version of Crystal Ball
7.x.
To restore the English version of Crystal Ball, you
must use the Add/Remove Programs icon in Windows Control
Panel to manually remove the evaluation version. Then,
you can install the English version again.
I set special
preferences in the English version of Crystal Ball.
Then, when I installed a localized version, all my
settings went away. What happened?
Separate preference files are stored for each Crystal
Ball language. When you install a different language, it
starts with the default preferences even though you have
set preferences for another language.
I use an English
version of Windows and have bought the Spanish version
of Crystal Ball. Can I switch Crystal Ball between
Spanish and English without removing Crystal Ball and
installing the other language?
You can switch back and forth between English and one
of the localized versions of Crystal Ball if you have a
Microsoft MUI pack for the other language, in your case,
Spanish. Users with a Microsoft MUI Pack can use the
Microsoft Office Tools to do this. The commands, in
English, are Start > Programs > Microsoft Office
> Microsoft Office Tools > Microsoft Office
version Language Settings. When the dialog
appears, choose a language for Excel (and Crystal Ball)
in the first dropdown list box.
Next,
click the Enabled Languages tab. The language that appears in the box
near the bottom of the dialog defines default behavior in Microsoft
Office applications. Be sure the selected language is the same language
chosen for Excel and Crystal Ball on the Language Settings tab. This
ensures that Excel functions are interpreted in the correct language.
Then,
click OK to apply these language settings to all Microsoft Office
products (such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) the next time
you open them.
Notice that you still need to set appropriate Region
and Language Options in Windows Control Panel so that
dates, times, numbers, and currency appear
correctly.
