How can I change the number format of my assumptions and forecasts?

You can control the number formatting for an assumption cell by setting the cell format in Excel (using the procedure below) and then redefining the assumption. You can control the rounding for a forecast cell by either:

  • Changing the cell format in Excel and then redefining the forecast
  • Formatting the forecast chart using the Format Preferences dialog

To change the cell format in Excel:

  1. Select the cell.
  2. Select Format > Cells > Number > Custom.
  3. In the Type field, indicate the number of decimal places you want to use by typing 0 with the number of decimal places, such as 0.000 for three decimal places.
  4. Click on OK.

To change the format of a forecast chart without changing the cell format:

  1. Run a simulation. The forecast chart for each defined forecast appears.
  2. In the forecast chart window, select Preferences > Format. The Format Preferences dialog appears.
  3. Deselect Use Underlying Cell Format.
  4. Change the format options in the dialog.
  5. Click on OK.
