How do I find the assumption values that produce certain forecast values?

To view the assumption values that produce your forecast values:

  1. Define the assumptions you are interested in as forecasts.
  2. Select Run > Run Preferences > Options.
  3. Check the Retain Unsorted Trials option. This keeps a copy of the forecast trials in the original order, even after you calculate or report the forecast statistics.
  4. Click on OK.
  5. Run the simulation.
  6. Select Run > Extract Data.
  7. For Type Of Data, select Forecast Values.
  8. Click on OK.

Crystal Ball generates the list of all the unsorted simulation forecast values. Unless you see an error about missing data due to calculation errors, the forecast values in each row will be from the same trial of the simulation.

You can sort the extracted rows of data by a particular column to more easily find the values you are interested in. For example, in the extracted data spreadsheet:

  1. Select all the columns that have extracted data.
  2. Select Data > Sort.
  3. Select which column of data to sort by and either ascending or decending order.
  4. Click on OK.

The data in each row stay with the corresponding values in the sorted column.
